Director for Membership

Alec Pompeo is a sophomore majoring in Political Science and minoring in Regional Planning. He’s originally from Apex, NC. In addition to being a UNC YD member since he came to Carolina, he’s involved with WXYC, UNC’s student-run radio station, and his social fraternity AEPi.

Director for Campus Service

Grace Darling is a sophomore double-majoring in Political Science and Global Studies. Grace joined UNC YD her first semester at UNC and served as an officer in 2018. She’s extremely passionate about politics and previously interned with the Rutherford County Democratic Party for the 2018 midterm election. After college, she hopes to go to graduate school and pursue a career in international relations.

Director for Policy Research and Programming

Thomas Ellis is a sophomore majoring in History and Political Science. Outside of UNC YD, Thomas is on the Editorial Board for the Carolina Political Review through the UNC Institute of Politics. He’s passionate about fighting partisan gerrymandering and hopes to work to make the political process more open and accessible!

Director for Political Engagement

Brady Creef is a sophomore born and raised in Kill Devil Hills, NC. He’s majoring in Political Science and Global Studies with a minor in Conflict Resolution. Brady got his start with UNC YD as a Voter Registration Captain. His team helped register over 500 voters leading up to the 2018 election. Brady is also involved with UNC Student Government, NC Fellows and the UNC Taekwondo Team.

Director for Fundraising

Claire Shu is a sophomore majoring in English and Economics with a Spanish minor. Beyond UNC YD, she’s involved in HYPE (Helping Youth by Providing Enrichment) and Carolina for Amani. Claire also participates in the bluegrass jam club Ramses Roots Revivalists! She previously interned with the Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art, and currently serves as an Undergraduate TA for Econ 101.

Director for Communications

Kyle Ryan is a sophomore Public Policy and Environmental Science double-major. He serves as Carolina Housing’s Marketing Intern and as Marketing Coordinator for CUAB. Additionally, Kyle serves an Admissions Ambassador. After graduation, he plans to attend graduate school for Public Policy and eventually work in legislative consulting.

Director for Community Service

Elizabeth Leonard is a First-Year with majors in English and Communications. Before coming to Carolina, she helped organize March for Our Lives Asheville in 2018. She later helped establish the permanent Asheville chapters of March for Our Lives and Students Demand Action. Outside of politics and organizing, Elizabeth loves to read and write.
